GENERAL FIXES
Generally speaking, some basic troubleshooting tips should always help you resolve whatever issue you are facing with the PC version of any game. If you are running into problems, maybe first attempt the following steps, and if they don’t work out, look into some of the more specific fixes we have below.
BLACK SCREEN ERROR
If you’re experiencing an issue where you encounter a black screen when you start up the game, then there’s a simple solution for it. The problem is caused because the game’s default resolution is set higher than your monitor’s native resolution. To fix the issue, just start up the game and then press ALT+ENTER to bring the game to windowed mode. Now, change the game’s resolution so that it matches your monitor’s native resolution. Once you do this, the problem will be resolved!
UNABLE TO CREATE NEW SAVE
If you’ve been unable to save the game, then the problem is most likely caused because of your anti-virus. Just add the game as an exception in your anti-virus software, and this problem will no longer bother you!

If you find that your game crashes every once in while, then the problem may be related to what the refresh rate is set as. To fix the issue, just navigate to ‘C:UsersNameAppDataLocalNBGIDarkSoulsDarkSouls.ini’ and open the ‘DarkSouls.ini’ file. Now, change the refresh rate to 60, and the problem will be fixed!
